I AM DONE !!!! (AWESOME x2)

The title pretty much says it all, it's self-explanitory.

Class Response 2 ( The end of the Science blog...)

During the past week and the week before, the Omega science classes have been to the library constantly to research 1 of 8 topics assigned to us, but one that in my opinion has most appeal is the Genetically Modified fish which I would like to further collaborate on. These fish are under controversy, because of some of the new unpredicted risks. These fish are solely created for the market or pets but never to be released into the wild. For if they may be released these fish will spread on the “Trojan gene”. Some scientists say that if just one were released into the wild, it could eliminate an entire species of natural fish. These fish grow at exponential rate making them perfect for the market, and since these fish are easier to maintain and easier to grow the regular prices of all fish are expected to lower to keep up with consumer demand. These fish would also make for great novelties because of there special characteristics. In my opinion I am pro-choice for Genetically Modified fish and I believe this will open up many doors for upcoming generations in the research of genetics.

Class Repsonse 1

The topic-We learned from Mrs.Nanni when we were working on our citations what sites might be most useful in our search for information on our given topic(such as .com, .net, .edu and .gov.)
The ending of the address bar at the top of the screen tells you who specifically created or owns this particulal website.

  • .Com is a commercial website, run by a company, such as http://www.google.com this is a search engine created by Larry Page and Sergey Brin.
  • .Gov is a governament website, run by the government or the government offices such as www.usa.gov which is the governments official website for all services, information or transactions.
  • .Org is a non-profit orginization, run by certain orginizations such as http://www.en.wikipedia.org that hands out information about various topics and issues.

Through this science class Mrs.Nanni explained on which certain websties to visit varying on what we needed to know, for me this information was useful so I personally wouldn't end up gathereing false information from innacurate websites.

The Control of the Pigeons via the Chinese (AWESOME)

Eastern Chinese scientists believe they have suceeded by controlling the path of flight taken by pigeons due to micro-electrode implants in their brains via remote control. The implants which are placed in certain areas of the brain, can send signals to the brain which then are converted into instructions of flight, such as left right up or down. This is the first sucessful implant of pigeons, though this experiment has been performed sucessfully on mice this opens up a new variety of uses of literal mind control and could be used in practical technology in the future. This break- through was discovered early this week and posted today by the A.P and other internet sites. In my opinion this breakthrough has opened many doors in the advancement of 21st century technology and Ipersonally believe as in the title, that this is awesome.

Astroid Threat of the 21st Century

Just 2 months into the new year of 2007 presented some dangerous issues to the world. This time an astroid which astronomers have named Apophis has been spotted on course heading straight towards the earth and for some have been coming in a bit too close for comfort. Apophis which measures to 436 feet long has a 1 in 45,000 chance of striking the earth and has the power and velocity to eliminate an entire city or reigon off the map. This asteroid if unattended is expected to strike on April 13, 2036. The U.N. is strongley adviced to begin a space program to thwart the threart and one of the proposals that is put under consideration is to gently tug the asteroid for 12 days and steer it away from the earth. This mission and other space missions to deflect the astroid are at a minimum estimate of 300 million dollars. In my opinion as like others this asteroid is coming too close for comfort and I strongley advise to speed up the planning of the asteroid deflection.

Postponing the flight of Atlantis

On Monday, the 26th 2007 the launch of the space shuttle Atlanits has been postponed due to inclimate weather (hail the size of golf-balls) and the damage to the exterior fuel tank and maybe even the orbiter itself. The launch has been optimistically postponed to April 21st to May 22nd but if the damage of the shuttle may be too sever the shuttle launch may be pushed into late summer. This ship was to be a ferry for the new crew of the orbiting outpost but now must stand down to the Russian Soyuz. In my opinion this is a disapointing and unfortunate setback and could further prevent the U.S. from any space-technology breakthroughs or discoveries.
